| Your plan | What to get |

| Up to 90 days with side trips to Cambodia, Laos or Thailand | E-visa, multiple entry |
| Longer than 90 days | Plan two trips, or ask me about other visa types before you book |
| Already in Vietnam on the exemption and want to stay longer | Message me before day 45: options depend on your case |
Timing
Standard processing usually takes 7–10 working days, so apply 2–3 weeks before you fly. If your flight is sooner, urgent processing gives a guaranteed result in 1 hour to 3 working days, with a weekend option. See processing times.
Tips from experience
- Set the e-visa start date on or before your arrival date, and choose the airport you'll actually land at.
- If you'll leave and come back even once, pay the extra $25 for multiple entry. It's cheaper than a second visa.
- Overstaying, even by a day, can mean a fine and problems at departure.
