Cut-off times: when to apply

  • 1 hour: apply Monday to Friday between 8:00 and 10:30 Vietnam time.
  • 4 hours: before 8:00 for a result by 12:00, before 14:00 for a result by 18:00.

What makes it take longer

  • Weekends and public holidays. Standard applications are not processed on these days. The next public holiday is 1 January 2027, and Lunar New Year 2027 falls in early February (official dates are announced by the government).
  • Peak season, from December to March and in July and August.
  • Unclear photo or passport scan. The most common cause of delays and refusals. See photo requirements.
  • Details that don't match the passport, such as a missing middle name.

When should I apply?

If your trip is more than 3 weeks away, apply for the standard e-visa and save money. If it is closer, or the status has been "processing" for days, choose an urgent option or speed up the application you already made.
